Projects
We have a clear vision to bring people to Castle Dent to enjoy our farm as much as we do. For those who can't make it here we want to supply you with the produce directly to your door so you too can enjoy the taste of what we produce.
There are a few moving parts to make the whole experience awesome, so watch this space...

For now, here are a few of the first projects currently in progress.
Joinery
Custom built-in furniture and storage, unique pieces, and commissions. We also carry-out carpentry and building work, general maintenance, renovations and restorations.

Every handcrafted piece of furniture has a story. The Leaners’ story is this.
All of the wood has been reclaimed. The legs and frame were part of the original staircase in the old meat-freezing works in Green Island; other elements are from old shepherds’ quarters near Omarama and the top boards from a farm in Clutha. It was sourced from various places, mindful that its next resting place is connected to the land through Century Farms.
Accommodation
Two new spaces will become available in 2026. 'Shearers' Studio' and 'The Hut'. These are for couples. Self-contained, unique and boutique studio accommodation. We have other plans for small group and family accommodation for 2027/28. All our accommodation is designed to be a #uniquestay and #slowstay, so our guests can jump off the treadmill and into a slow pace in a tranquil environment, even if it is just for a couple of days.
Beef
Knowing where my meat comes from has been very important to me for most of my life. We want to bring this to you too. It takes time...around 600 days so this one is a slow burn. We will be sure to let you know when its coming...
Fungi
Can we develop and grow gourmet NZ mushrooms...? Can we do this at scale and send them to the world...? You bet ya!

Eggs
You can already buy our eggs at JR Farm Supplies in Lawrence and you cannot get more free-range than ours. We are expanding. Early in 2026 we will have a larger and more consistent supply and will be supplying more eggs to more people. You will also be able to pop into the yards and pick some up yourself, along with some other goodiees.
Retail & Entertainment
Paddock to product... we've started chatting with some really cool farms that are making products from their wool clip and leather. We want to bring selected brands with a clear provenance path together for your convenience. Along with this, we're exploring other products and how we can entertain you on your visit.
